BALLET - K-6TH GRADES
Poise! Beauty! Creative expression! These are some of the things you will develop in ballet class. This class is a beginning foundation in classical ballet technique and creative movement. You will learn 1st-5th positions, stretches, simple ballet exercises and a short routine. The major focus of ballet class is to have FUN! It will enhance a respect and appreciation for the art of ballet and will help increase strength, flexibility, coordination, rhythm and balance. Perform your routine for your parents on the last day of class!

CRAFTS - 1ST-6TH GRADES
Holiday Crafts and Gifts: Make some beautiful holiday gifts for your family and friends! They will appreciate your custom holiday cards and gift tags, made scrapbook style! Measure out the ingredients for a cookie mix and put it in your decorated jar! Make dazzling ornaments, learn how to make beautiful gift bags and much more! Once you know how to make these handmade gifts, then you can make more of them at home for others on your holiday list (and maybe for yourself, too!) (Different projects available for other times of the year).

CROCHETING - 3RD-6TH GRADES
Learn to crochet! Start with simple projects like a bookmark, potholder or something for your hair! First you will learn the basic techniques of crocheting, and then you will learn how to chain stitch and single crochet. If you already know how to crochet, you can make something more difficult, such as a scarf. You will then gauge your stitches and decrease for completion of the project. This is good practice using math skills!

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY - 1ST-6TH GRADES
Become an expert photographer! Learn the basics of digital photography from making the most of your digital camera to editing your photos on the computer! You will begin by learning the basic functions of your personal digital camera such as picture size adjustment, using a timer, using digital and optical zooms, and changing from color to black and white. Your photography skills will be complimented by hands-on practice editing your own pictures on the computer. Learn skills such as rotating, cropping, adjusting color and brightness, fixing red-eye, resizing for email, and creating slideshows. Please bring your own digital camera to class. At the end of the session, you will take home a CD with your photo creations on it.

DRAWING AND CARTOONING - K-6TH GRADES
Learn to draw what you see!! Draw items displayed at class like toys, fruit, or flowers. Discover how easily you can draw animals using the five basic elements of shape! At class, pick out a photo or graphic to look at and draw. As you work on simple compositions, still life projects and cartooning, you will learn other basic techniques, such as proportion, perspective, shading, texture, tone, value, color and composition. Find out how much fun it is to draw from an experienced art teacher!

DRUMS AND RHYTHM - 1ST-6TH GRADES
Do you have rhythm? Can you keep a beat? Come to Drum and Rhythm class to learn how!! Have fun while you have quality lessons! Learn timing and rhythm, keeping beat with your whole body. Using drum pads and drum sticks, become familiar with drumming to music and drum terminology. Learn different styles of drumming and get comfortable with stance and positioning. This class is a great foundation for future music and dance classes, and improving motor skills and coordination! Materials are provided.

GUITAR - 1ST-6TH GRADES
Do you have a guitar? Bring it to class and learn to play it! Have fun while you have quality lessons!! Learn basic chords, chord progressions, strumming patterns and basic music theory. You may even play some simple 2 or 3 chord songs! Learn all about guitars—parts of the guitar, how to tune it, take care of it, practice and more. You will like the instructor, who is an experienced musician! Bring your own acoustic guitar—any size or type (not electric).

HEALTHY COOKING 101 TO 104 - K-6TH GRADES
You will learn to cook using fresh, nutritious ingredients without prepared mixes. Make delicious breakfasts like Blueberry Yogurt Pancakes, Cinnamon French Toast or Whole Wheat Zucchini Muffins. Enjoy creating Strawberry Smoothies, Whole Wheat Applesauce Raisin Cookies and much more! You will learn about nutrition, know how to follow a recipe, and it will be fun measuring, stirring batter, cracking eggs and more hands-on fun! Take home your own apron, chef's hat and cookbook full of the recipes you made in class so that you can show your family how you can cook! (There are new recipes for returning students: 102-104)

HIP HOP/JAZZ DANCE - 1ST-6TH GRADES
Have fun dancing to favorite popular songs!! Learn both jazz and hip hop moves and a new original routine! Each class will start with stretches that originate from ballet, yoga and jazz which will help you increase strength and flexibility. Improve your coordination, rhythm, and balance, too! Learn to dance from a talented and experienced dance instructor.

JEWELRY MAKING - 1ST-6TH GRADES
You will love making your own jewelry. Technique in basic jewelry making will be taught, and you will learn about mixing colors and shapes. A variety of decorative materials will be used in the projects, such as beads in wood, glass, metal and beautiful crystals. They will be attached or strung on leather, quality metal chain, yarns and flosses, ribbon, leatherette, and more. You will be proud to wear tasteful and age appropriate bracelets, necklaces and/or earrings that you enjoyed creating.

MIXED MEDIA STUDIO ART - 1ST-6TH GRADES
Draw and paint! Use pastels! Have fun with printmaking (carving your own drawing out of rubber and printing with it)! This class is a lot of fun because it involves working with several different media, and you will discover which one is your favorite! Some elements involved in mixed media that will be covered are: five basic elements of shape, shading, texture, value, color, composition, positive and negative space. You will develop your own imagination!

MOVIE MAKING AND SCRIPT WRITING - 3RD-6TH GRADES
Produce your very own movie! Discuss fairy-tales, mythical creatures, and dream worlds, and then make a movie that is your very own story. Be a director, writer, cameraman, actor, and costume designer. Design your own characters, play improv acting games, and practice group script writing to ultimately create your own movie!

PIANO WITH KEYBOARDS - 1ST-6TH GRADES
This is a fun class where you will learn basic music skills, such as note reading and writing, rhythm, counting, scales, playing simple songs and much more! Everyone in your class will have a keyboard to use, and you can practice what you learn on a piano at home. You can purchase your own music book that can be used for continuing ASE piano classes. A professional musician who will facilitate class interaction teaches this class.

SCRAPBOOKING - 1ST-6TH & 4TH-6TH GRADES
Friends! Family! Vacations! Sports! Performances! Pets! Who and what are in some of your favorite photos? Have you ever made a special scrapbook? In this class, you will create your very own scrapbook and bring your own photos to class. Your pictures will look incredible after they are cropped in different shapes. Make colorful borders and backgrounds for your photos! Have fun with stickers, and much more! While you are being so creative, you will be learning about design, color, composition and shapes. And best of all, you will have a great keepsake to take home!

SING & ACT - 1ST-6TH GRADES
Watch your children become more confident in personal expression through theatre and music. They will learn the basics such as stage presence, speaking clearly and singing with style. They will have a chance to create their own short play and perform it to the rest of the group! Each child will have a chance to show their own special talent to the class and they will also perform for their parents on the last day!

STOP- MOTION ANIMATION - 1ST-6TH GRADES
Learn the basics of 3-D animation! Using digital cameras, you will story board, make flip books, invent characters, and tell stories. Even make your own set and collage. Watch your work at the end of the class!

THEATRE GAMES AND ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS - 1ST-6TH GRADES
This class is a great introduction to theater and will provide you with lots of fun dramatic play activities from improvisation games like Freeze, Party Quirks and Gibberish, to props, monologues and short scenes. These games promote self-esteem and improve communication skills. You may also be involved in activities that will help you memorize lines, be a director, and more.

WATERCOLOR - 1ST-6TH GRADES
Watercolor is the most popular painting medium today. Once regarded as the "poor relation" of oils, it has become the first choice of many modern artists. Using the same technique as the drawing class, you will learn how to set up a drawing for painting, building up with layers, highlights, brush strokes and adding detail. You will work on paintings, such as landscapes, cityscapes, still life flowers, animals and birds. When finished, you should have several paintings ready to frame! Find out how fun it is to paint from an experienced art teacher!

YEARBOOK LAYOUT AND DESIGN - 5TH-6TH GRADES
Do you ever wonder what goes into putting together your school yearbook? You can learn how to create a yearbook from the beginning to the end. We will go through the steps logically and creatively. We will explore page design and layouts, theme ideas and special hidden yearbook details! Junior High offers a yearbook committee and this will be a great start! You will be able to include this class in your experience on your application.

YOUNG CARPENTERS - 1ST-6TH GRADES
Do you like to hammer nails? Do you like to make things out of wood? Learn how to use basic hand tools to build simple projects! Make a pencil box, tool tote, key rack, bird house and more!! You will begin by learning the safe use and care of tools and will practice with them before building. You will learn general wood working skills, sanding, and painting. Only safe paints will be used, and wood pieces will be pre-cut and pre-drilled.
