(Back to Summer Camp) (Download Your Summer Camp Registration Form)	SECRET AGENT TRAINING As you go through your training to be a secret agent, you will write clues, make secret maps, and put on various disguises. Learn to write and decipher secret codes, speak in accents, and much more! Using your agent training technique, the class will create a Scavenger Hunt for the entire camp on the last day! DRAWING AND CARTOONING Learn to draw what you see!! Draw items displayed at class like toys, fruit, or flowers. Discover how easily you can draw animals using the five basic elements of shape! At class, pick out a photo or graphic to look at and draw. As you work on simple compositions and still life projects, you will learn other basic techniques, such as proportion, perspective, shading, texture, tone, value, color and composition. Enjoy cartooning, too! Find out how much fun it is to draw from an experienced art teacher! MIXED MEDIA STUDIO ART CLASS This class is a lot of fun because it involves working on several different media, such as drawing, painting, oil pastels, chalk pastels and printmaking (carving their own drawing out of rubber and printing.) Some elements involved in mixed media will be covered such as: five basic elements of shape, shading, texture, value, color, composition, positive and negative space while developing their own imagination, problem solving and critical thinking abilities. WATERCOLOR Watercolor is the most popular painting medium today. Once regarded as the "poor relation" of oils, it has become the first choice of many modern artists. Using the same technique as the drawing class, students will learn how to set up a drawing for painting, building up with layers, highlights, brush strokes and adding detail. We will work on paintings, such as landscapes, cityscapes, still life flowers, animals and birds. When finished, the student should have several paintings ready to frame. GUITAR Learn to play guitar! We have great teachers who are talented musicians! First of all, you need to bring your own acoustic guitar to class. You will learn about the guitar body, tuning, reading, writing, playing and listening to basic chords, and scales. You will play and listen to rock, country and classical songs and have fun while you have quality lessons. JAZZ DANCE WITH SOME HIP HOP Have fun dancing to songs from High School Musical!! Learn both jazz and hip hop moves and an original routine! Each class will start with stretches that originate from ballet, yoga and jazz which will help you increase strength and flexibility. Improve your coordination, rhythm, and balance, too! Learn from a talented and experienced dance instructor who has taken all forms of dance lessons for 14 years and was on a locally and nationally competitive dance team for 4 years. YOUNG CARPENTERS Do you like to hammer nails? Do you like to make things out of wood? Learn how to use basic hand tools to build simple projects! Make a pencil box, tool tote, key rack, bird house and more!! You will begin by learning the safe use and care of tools and will practice with them before building. You will learn general wood working skills, sanding and painting. Only safe paints will be used, and wood pieces will be pre-cut and pre-drilled. AMAZING SCIENCE EXPERIMENTS Ready to get your hands on science? Make invisible ink and your very own rainbow! How do magnets work? How do you measure the flow of electricity? Build your own electric circuit and find out how a light bulb turns on! Have fun making paper airplanes and modifying them to travel more effectively. Measure light when it bends and refracts, make a cloud in a jar and much more! All students will participate in fun, hands-on experiments that explain science in every day life. Bring home your own lab book with your observations and conclusions. (The electricity and airplane experiments are for the older campers.) LEGO BUILDING Design, invent and build! Be creative!! Work together as a class to construct your projects. Together you will solve problems and create solutions. Build structures, communities, towns, vehicles or creatures! This is a great class to learn more about science, math and engineering! (Lego pieces are supplied in class but do not go home with students). BIBLE CLUB Listen to some great Bible stories!
